Chocolate chip cookies with 03 Stout or 01 Pilsner Spent Grain Flour
Ingredients
Here's how
- Combine the butter, brown sugar, syrup and sugar to create a soft and fluffy mixture.
- Add the eggs and vanilla, then thoroughly mix everything together using an electric mixer.
- In a separate bowl, mix together 03 Stout (or 01 Pilsner) Spent Grain Flour, flour, baking powder, and salt and add to the egg, butter and sugar mixture. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
- Add the nuts and chocolate and mix gently.
- Make small 50 g balls of dough - flatten the balls either with your fingers or a fork, place them on a baking tray with 5 cm space between each as they will flatten out during baking.
- Bake for 10 - 13 minutes until golden at 190 °C (fan oven). Be careful not to leave the cakes in the oven too long, they should be slightly soft and chewy in the centre when cooled.
- Leave the cakes to cool on the baking tray and only transfer them to a wire rack once they have set.
Tip
Walnuts can be substituted with other types of nuts, and if you prefer a less strong chocolate flavour, a milder chocolate can be used.
If you use 03 Stout Spent Grain Flour, your cookies will be darker and stronger in flavour compared to using 01 Pilsner Spent Grain Flour.
