Vanilla wreath with 01 Pilsner Spent Grain Flour

Preparation time: 4 hours (including resting and baking)

Ingredients

200 g wheat flour

50 g 01 Pilsner Spent Grain Flour 

200 g butter

150 g sugar

1 small egg

Seeds from 1 vanilla pod

Here's how

  1. Mix wheat and 01 Pilsner Spent Grain Flour together in a bowl.
  2. Crumble the butter into the flour.
  3. Scrape the seeds out of the vanilla pod and mix a little with the sugar to separate the seeds.
  4. Then add the vanilla seeds and sugar to the mixture and combine everything with the eggs - be careful not to overwork the dough.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven to 185 °C (top and bottom heat).
  7. Now it's time to shape the vanilla wreaths - either pass the dough through a meat grinder with the small star-shaped plate and cut the strips into ca. 10 cm long pieces, shaping them into wreaths or use a piping bag with a star-shaped tip to make round wreaths onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake the vanilla wreaths in the oven for about 12 minutes.
  9. Let them cool on a wire rack - they will become crisp once completely cooled.
  10. Store them in an airtight container.
